MIDNIGHT GARNET.....FAVORITE NEW COLOR!

My husband and I spent Sunday afternoon at the Wine Expo in Boston with friends and family. This is the primo and largest wine expo in the country! Wine tasting at vendor tables from all over the world was a blast, but the highlight of my day was when I discovered the new Infinity G series convertible, mind you not just for the beauty of the car, but for the unbelievable color!!! How clever to have this beautiful "Merlot" hue on this car sitting in the middle of the wine expo, great marketing ploy! They have me sold, though a convertible in New England is not the most practical. So it got me thinking to why I am so drawn to the red hues? It has been my favorite color since I was a little girl and I wear it constantly. So next time you need some inspiration for color in your home, look in your closet. Many of us are drawn to decorating our homes in the colors we wear! So what is your favorite color to wear? I would love to hear from you!!!!

Rough Luxe.......a Return to Grace, Industrial Chic .....Mindful Modern

Moving on to the next trend, I feel as though there may be a need to clarify between the "ROUGH LUXE" and the "INDUSTRIAL CHIC" trends. While there are many commonalities the rough textures, aged appearance, distressing, layering there are enough differences for each to stand on it's own. Rough Luxe to me feels more of a state of "acquired elegance" often including heirlooms, a natural beauty of aging, vintage etc. While for me Industrial Chic is more modern, including contemporary art, the exposure of natural elements architecturally, reclaimed finishes..... I see this more in an office or kitchen setting. However we decide to use this look, long gone is the "Throw Away Society" a call to returning items to grace has now established itself. To get this look add grays, beiges and warm neutrals, mixed with washed wovens, french grain sack cloths and burlap, limed oak, aged metals, recycled glass, mercury glass, peeled and distressed finishes.
