When in Home, Do as the Romans do!

Recently at an installation for window treatments, my installer and I had a conversation about the current trends we are seeing in this economy. Simple draperies and installations are now becoming the norm, and we are now looking at ways to begin to dress a window in a way that we can add to it later down the road. Blinds are one of the first steps to covering a window, especially when privacy is an issue. If you are being conscious of your wallet, they are a great beginning to treating your windows but please don't stop at wood blinds, duettes or silhouettes. Think about bringing in color and pattern with Roman Shades. With small yardage requirements and lower workroom costs, they often run the same price as wood blinds.

Roman Shades give you the opportunity to dress up your windows, absorb sound and give you privacy while having the ability to really make a home fashion statement! The beauty is the ability of adding on sheers, stationary panels or top treatments later on to enhance the finished look or simply change it up a little.

Check out some of the creative ways to use Roman Shades below, notice the nice layering techniques!

Swing With Style

I love this time of year, getting out the golf clubs and hitting the fairways with my golfing gals the "Rosebuds." Having an addiction for design I am constantly checking out the interiors of the Clubhouses and pointing out the great fabrics, finishes and furnishings. Here are some of my favorites I found in the great search on line. Check out the coolest clubhouse I have ever seen being touted as the "Guggenheim of Clubhouses" originally designed by Frank Lloyd Wright for Marilyn Monroe and Arthur Miller in Hawaii, now part of the King Kamehameha Golf Course. Reminds me of something I would see on the Jetsons, couldn't you just picture George golfing here?

I think Marilyn would have loved the pink!

Doesn't this remind you of "10,00 Leagues Under the Sea?"

The Tudors?

Love the Artwork and Lighting!

Love the Ceiling!

So Country French!

My gym doesn't look like this!

Fun!

Perfectly Sized Chandelier

To say the least choosing a light fixture can be a daunting task. For most the question that haunts us is "How large should my chandelier be over the dining table?" As design professionals we have often created "tricks of the trade", formulas we use to get the right, size, shape and style to selecting the perfect chandelier. Check out some of my favorites and visit my website www.drawingroominteriordesign.com to get a tip sheet on "Selecting the Perfectly Sized Chandelier."

Love This!
